Staples School Supply Drive

Staples Canada launches 18th annual School Supply Drive

Students across Canada are about to head back to class – and for the 18th year running, Staples Canada has set out to give young learners a leg up and eliminate barriers to learning with the Staples School Supply Drive. The back-to-school charitable program has raised more than $16 million to-date, thanks to Staples customer donations “At Staples, we believe that the back to school season should be a time of excitement and wonder. However, we know that parents, teachers and students are facing more pressure and financial hardship than ever before,” said Wanda Walkden, Chief Human Resources and Communications Officer, Staples Canada. “As one of Canada’s largest national retailers, the School Supply Drive allows our stores to team up with charitable partners, making a sizable, tangible impact in the hundreds of communities where we live and work, empowering learning and growth for the year ahead.

From August 7th to September 10th, customers shopping in-store can choose to make a donation with their purchase or through the Kiwanis Foundation of Canada via our Canadahelps.org Link. Both of which are allocated to the respective Kiwanis Club in their communities for School Supply in that community:

  • Kiwanis International is a global community of clubs, members and partners dedicated to improving the lives of children one community at a time.
  • Each community has different needs, and Kiwanis empowers members to pursue creative ways to serve the needs of children, such as fighting hunger, improving literacy and offering guidance.

THE PROGRAM AND GOAL

Staples Ontario collects donations at their cash registers and provides these funds to their local Kiwanis Clubs who work to find the education greatest needs in that community.

Peter Tudisco on - Kiwanis-Staples Partnership

Some kids in our communities do not have all the benefits of others. The partnership with Staples and Kiwanis has benefited thousands of these underprivileged kids with the “Back to School & Back Pack” program. Kiwanis is all about KIDS and Staples has stepped up =ith this program! I look forward to a long association and to assist in making a young child’s life just a little bit better My personal thanks to Staples.
