Service Leadership New Club Building

The Kiwanis Foundation of Canada supports the ongoing work of Kiwanis Clubs in Canada to build and promote Circle K, Key Club, Builders Club, K Kids, and AKtion Clubs.

The Foundation has established a fund to provide grants of up to $1,000 to Kiwanis Clubs in Canada to assist in building new Kiwanis Service Leadership Clubs. If your Club in interested in participating in the Service Leadership Program Grant program, the process is easy.

The purpose of the fund is to build new Kiwanis Service Leadership Clubs in Canada. Any Kiwanis Clubs in Canada may apply to the Foundation for a grant of up to $1,000 for the first club sponsored or 50% of costs up to $500 for subsequent clubs sponsored in the same year. The request is to be supported by a budget and a stated purpose of building a Kiwanis Service Leadership Club.

The budget may include direct costs (banner, bell, gavel, pins), travel costs, registration fees etc, providing the expense is justified to build a new Club.

Kiwanis Clubs will be selected from those applying on a District, geographic, and rotational basis. Selection will depend, in part, on current Foundation Service Leadership Program Grant resources, and previous grant distributions.

Kiwanis Clubs receiving the grant will be requested to provide a copy of the Kiwanis Club International Registration Certificate, photographs and a write up for the purpose of including it in the 'Foundation News', which is distributed to all Kiwanis Clubs in Canada.

The Program

The Kiwanis Foundation of Canada established this New Club Building Grant Program to encourage individual Kiwanis Clubs to build New Service Leadership Clubs that promote volunteer service and leadership among children and challenged adults:

  • K-Kids (elementary school)
  • Builders Club (middle school or junior high)
  • Key Club (high school)
  • Circle K (college or university)
  • AKtion Club (adults living with disabilities)

The New Club Building Grant Program makes available a grant of up to $1,000 for the first Service Leadership Club they build and Charter. Subsequent Service Leadership clubs sponsored are eligible for 50% of the expenses up to $500 each if sponsored in the same year.
